# Configuration Manager Settings AppV

{% hint style="warning" %}
Support for Microsoft App-V is deprecated and end of life is set for April 2026.

However, if you still have AppV-enabled applications in ConfigMgr, please be aware that in build 9.3.968.21 and later the following setting was changed:

`onesite.skip_wmi_access_appv_enabled` to true as the default, this should be set to false.
{% endhint %}

Configuration Manager (ConfigMgr) 2012 SP1 introduced support for App-V streaming. Application content is streamed on demand and only to locations where it is required.

OneSite Anywhere version 3.0 and above integrates with the native App-V streaming capabilities in ConfigMgr which allows for:

* Eliminating the need to maintain ConfigMgr Distribution Point or App-V Streaming Server infrastructure.
* Self-maintaining peer-to-peer sharing leveraging the Caching File System and Virtual SAN technologies built into the OneSite platform.

{% hint style="info" %}
In build 9.3.968.21 and later the following setting was changed:

Onesite.skip\_wmi\_access\_appv\_enabled to true as the default
{% endhint %}

This section provides guidance for deploying the App-V Streaming capabilities of OneSite Anywhere.

### Enable App-V Streaming on the ConfigMgr Distribution Point

ConfigMgr Distribution Points are already pre-configured with the necessary protocol support for App-V Streaming. Please ensure that at least one Distribution Point which contains the desired App-V Application and Deployment Type content is accessible to all ConfigMgr client machines.

OneSite Anywhere App-V streaming will never actually make use of any Distribution Point for content, but ConfigMgr itself requires the content to be available on at least one Distribution Point.

### Enable App-V Streaming on Deployment Types

To enable App-V Streaming on App-V Deployment Types:

1. Select the **Content** tab of the **Application Virtualization 5 Properties** dialog box
2. Select the **Stream content from distribution point** Deployment option.

### Pre-staging App-V Packages for Faster Streaming

Please consider using the [Content Push](/anywhere/content-push.md) features in for pre-staging App-V packages to remote locations. For additional speed, remember to check the **Publish Unpacked Content in P2P** checkbox.

Depending on the state of the content, it may need to undergo some prior actions before it is available for App V streaming. Once the content has been unpacked and published, App-V streaming will begin immediately. The following content states describe the required actions that need to execute before becoming available for App V streaming.

* **Pre-staged unpacked content**
  * Discovered and used automatically.
  * Streaming begins immediately.
* **Pre-staged packed content**
  * Discovered, unpacked, and published.
  * Streaming begins after unpacking is complete.
* **Packed content ONLY**
  * Automatically downloaded across the WAN.
  * Discovered, unpacked, and published.
  * Streaming begins after unpacking is complete.
