# Install checklist

Server installation checklist

Use these checklists to verify that you have followed all the steps required for successful installation and operation of Adaptiva OneSite.

## 1. Pre-installation checklists

*Complete these pre-installation checklists. Share these sections directly with your Identity, Database, Network, and Security teams for hand-off.*

### Accounts and permissions checklist

* ☐ **Installation / Adaptiva Server Account**
  * ☐ Ensure the account that will perform the installation has local administrator rights on the planned Adaptiva server.
  * ☐ Determine authentication method: Windows Login (current or specified account) Recommended or Custom Login (username formatted as an email address and password. Use a valid email address to receive emails as appropriate to the installed solution).
  * ☐ Securely record the Login ID and password used.
* ☐ **If using an existing SQL Server**
  * ☐ Grant the installation account the sysadmin role on the target SQL Server instance. You can change this to `db_owner` of the Adaptiva database, if necessary, after the installation.
  * ☐ Add `NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM` if the Adaptiva server is also the SQL Server OR the `domain\computername$` account if the Adaptiva server is remote to the SQL Server sysadmin role.
* ☐ **SQL Server Configuration**
  * ☐ Create a dedicated account for database reporting.
* ☐ **ConfigMgr Database Account (ConfigMgr integration)**
  * ☐ Grant the integration account at least `db_datareader` permissions on the ConfigMgr database. See [Plan for ConfigMgr integration](/platform/plan/configmgr-planning.md)

### Network and connectivity checklist

* ☐ **Network Firewall Policies**
  * ☐ Verify network firewall exceptions for default Adaptiva ports - [Communication ports](/platform/install/additional-configuration/platform-communication-ports.md).
  * ☐ Confirm no domain-level **Group Policy Objects (GPOs)** override or block local firewall rules.
  * ☐ If using a non-default SQL Server port, open the custom SQL TCP port (default is **1433**).
* ☐ **Internet Access and Domain Whitelisting**
  * ☐ Whitelist outbound traffic to [Internet URLs](https://github.com/AdaptivaDocs/docs/tree/main/platform/site-planning/onesite-platform-planning.md#internet-urls).
* ☐ **TLS Certificate**
  * ☐ If using a CA-issued certificate certificates, convert your `.pfx` to `cert.pem` and `key.pem` files - [CA Requirements](https://github.com/AdaptivaDocs/docs/tree/main/platform/site-planning/onesite-platform-planning.md#ca-requirements).
* ☐ **Integration-Specific Network Access (Optional)**
  * ☐ **ConfigMgr**: Configure database connectivity / [Linked Server across SQL instances](/platform/plan/configmgr-planning.md#additional-database-considerations-linked-servers).
  * ☐ **Workspace ONE**: Ensure connectivity between the AirWatch Cloud Connector (ACC) and the Workspace ONE API URL. See [Communication Ports](/platform/install/additional-configuration/platform-communication-ports.md).

## 2. Installation execution checklists

*Use the appropriate checklist below based on your deployment type.*

### Quick install checklist

*Use this for standard evaluations or small-scale deployments using SQL Express.*

* ☐ **Verify Pre-requisites**
  * ☐ Confirm all requirements in [Accounts and permissions checklist](#accounts-and-permissions-checklist) are met.
  * ☐ Confirm all requirements in [Network and connectivity checklist](#network-and-connectivity-checklist) are met.
  * ☐ Add antivirus exclusions for Adaptiva installation directory and content library - [Antivirus Exceptions](https://github.com/AdaptivaDocs/docs/tree/main/platform/site-planning/onesite-platform-planning.md#antivirus-exceptions).
  * ☐ Have your license key ready (multiple keys separated by semicolons).
* ☐ **Server & Environment Preparation**
  * ☐ **Drive Selection**: Ensure a drive other than **C:** is available for logs and content library.
  * ☐ If pre-installing SQL Express, ensure the SQL Server Network Configuration Protocols show TCP/IP is `Enabled`.

### Advanced installation checklist (core requirements)

*Required for enterprise and custom OneSite installations to ensure the base platform is ready.*

* ☐ **Verify Pre-requisites & Environment**
  * ☐ Confirm requirements in [Accounts and permissions checklist](#accounts-and-permissions-checklist).
  * ☐ Confirm requirements in [Network and connectivity checklist](#network-and-connectivity-checklist).
  * ☐ Add antivirus exclusions for Adaptiva installation directory and content library - [Antivirus Exceptions](https://github.com/AdaptivaDocs/docs/tree/main/platform/site-planning/onesite-platform-planning.md#antivirus-exceptions).
  * ☐ Have your license key ready (multiple keys separated by semicolons).
* ☐ **Server & Environment Preparation**
  * ☐ Drive Selection: Ensure a drive other than C: is available for logs and content library.
  * ☐ If changing the Admin Portal TCP/IP Port confirm its availability and record the number.
  * ☐ Identify if using a Default or Named SQL instance (note custom port if not default 1433).

## 3. Integration checklists

*Complete only the sections that apply to your environment.*

### ConfigMgr integration checklist

* ☐ **Server & Topology Planning**
  * ☐ Determine Adaptiva Server installation location (Primary Site Server, CAS, or separate server).
  * ☐ Create Linked Servers for the Adaptiva and ConfigMgr SQL Servers if the databases are hosted in different SQL instances.
* ☐ **Permissions & Database Setup**
  * ☐ Record the following ConfigMgr environment details, even if setup retrieves them automatically:
    * Primary Site Server computer name / FQDN.
    * Site code.
    * SQL Server hosting the ConfigMgr database, including the instance name if applicable.
    * ConfigMgr database name.
  * ☐ **Primary Site Server connection account**
    * ☐ Identify the account used to connect to the Primary Site Server. The system account of the Adaptiva server is recommended.
    * ☐ If using an account other than the system account, record its username in `domain\username` format and ensure its password is available securely for setup.
  * ☐ **ConfigMgr SQL database connection account**
    * ☐ Identify the account used to connect to the ConfigMgr SQL database. The system account of the Adaptiva server is recommended.
    * ☐ Confirm this account meets the ConfigMgr database permissions requirement in the [Accounts and permissions checklist](#accounts-and-permissions-checklist).
    * ☐ If using an account other than the system account, record its username in `domain\username` format and ensure its password is available securely for setup.
  * ☐ **Primary Site Server file system connection account**
    * ☐ Identify the account used to access the Primary Site Server’s file system for copying content and other file operations. The system account of the Adaptiva server is recommended.
    * ☐ If using an account other than the system account, record its username in `domain\username` format and ensure its password is available securely for setup.
* ☐ **Configuration & Exclusions**
  * ☐ Create antivirus exclusions for ConfigMgr-related folders and processes.

### Workspace ONE integration checklist

* ☐ **AirWatch Cloud Connector (ACC)**
  * ☐ Decide if ACC will reside on the same server as Adaptiva or a remote server.
  * ☐ Download and install the latest Cloud Connector package using the designated service account.
  * ☐ Ensure connectivity between the AirWatch Cloud Connector (ACC) and the Workspace ONE API URL. See [Communication Ports](/platform/install/additional-configuration/platform-communication-ports.md).
* ☐ **Certificates & APIs**
  * ☐ Download the vSEC Certificate.
  * ☐ Install the Adaptiva Certificate for Workspace ONE communication.
  * ☐ Install required Adaptiva APIs (DLLs) to enable communication between Workspace ONE and Adaptiva.
* ☐ **Configuration Details**
  * ☐ Record Workspace ONE location details: API URL and tenant-specific identifiers.
