# Manage client licenses

How to manage client licenses for OneSite products.

OneSite manages the products keys that you have applied, and pushes those licenses out to all eligible client devices. Each license key typically has a limit on how many devices they cover.

You can manage licenses by logging into the Adaptive Admin Portal and clicking **Manage Licenses** from the home page.

The Product Licensing screen shows:

* The licensed products.
* Which groups of devices are targeted for the product license.
* The state of all license keys that have been applied for the product.

## View how many licenses are used

When you select a product license on the left, the screen shows how many licenses you have, and how many licenses are being used:

Free trial keys have an unlimited number of licenses, but expire after 30 days.

If you need more licenses, reach out to your sales representative to purchase a new key with a larger license count.

## View applied license keys for a product

The License Keys pane shows all keys that have been applied for a specific product:

This list includes all keys, including evaluation keys and expired keys. You can click on the ellipsis (**...**) to the right of any key to remove the key.

Removing an active key may cause the product to become un-licensed.

## Target a product license to a specific groups of devices

While the typical strategy is to apply the license to all client devices, you may want to target the license to specific groups of devices, especially if you have more devices than you have licenses for a particular product.

You can see which Groups receive licenses in the **Target Collections** panel.

### To add target groups

1. In the Target Collections pane, click **+ Browse**.
2. Select one or more Groups to grant licenses to.

   <div data-gb-custom-block data-tag="hint" data-style="warning" class="hint hint-warning"><p>Do not select the Root License Business Unit or any of its child groups.</p></div>
3. Click **OK**.

### To remove target groups

{% hint style="warning" %}
If you remove OneSite Patch licenses from a device, you lose all of the patch history for that device.
{% endhint %}

#### To remove All Clients

1. Toggle the **Use All Clients** toggle to *off*.
2. Click **OK** to confirm that you want to un-license all clients.

#### To remove a target group:

1. In the Target Collections pane, in the list of Group names, click the ellipsis (**...**) to the right of the group to remove, and select **Remove**.

## Verify which devices are licensed for a product

When a device is licensed, it is added to the appropriate child Group under the Root License Business Unit group. These groups have sensors that detect when a device has a license enabled.

1. In the left menu, select **Assets > Groups**.
2. In the folder pane, find and expand the Root License Business Unit.
3. Find the child group for the specific license. For example, the PatchEnterprise License Business Unit.
4. Click the ellipsis (**...**) to the right of the group, and select **Show Members**.
5. If you made recent licensing changes, you may have to click **Evaluate Membership** to update the list of devices.
