# Auto Location Creation

Setup and configuration guide for automatic location creation

Auto Location Creation controls whether the server automatically creates a new Location when an Adaptiva Client registers with an IP address that doesn't match the IP range of any existing Locations.

In an on-premises server installation, this feature is enabled by default.

In a SaaS server installation, this feature is disabled by default. You must configure [on-premises client detection](/platform/user-guide/locations/on-premises-client-detection.md) before enabling this feature.

## Auto Location Creation settings
